Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation cordially invites you to experience “ BSO Classical Concert ” by Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (BSO) conducted by Nora-ath Chanklam, the talented conductor, with world class violinist Carolin Ann Widmann on Monday 31 st July, 2006 from 08.00 p.m. at Main Hall, Thailand Cultural Centre .
You will live a passionate musical experience with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra together with a talented violin soloist Carolin Ann Widmann conducted by Nora-ath Chanklam.

Nora-ath started his conducting lessons with Richard Hornich at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston , USA . After he obtained his Master’s Degree, he joined to be a full-time instructor at the Department of Music, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University and Academic Affair at KPN Music Academy .
Moreover, the violin is his major instrument. Nora-ath also conducted various kind of music for example: compositions by Aaron Copland, Igor Stravinsky, Darius Milhaud, Ottorino Respighi, etc. He also conducted and directed Menotti’s Opera “The Medium”.
Nora-ath took his conducting course with Assistant Professor Col.Choochart Pitaksakorn and Dr.Pradhak Pradipasen regularly given him advice about conducting music for him. In 2004, he was awarded a scholarship from Chulalongkorn University to take part in a conducting course with Michael Jinbo at Pierre Monteux School of Conducting Maine, USA. After he graduated, he appeared as a conductor in Chulalongkorn Symphony Orchestra and Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and also appeared as guest conductor in National Symphony Orchestra.
Currently, Nora-ath is studying more about conducting with Mr.Hikotaro Yazaki, Music Director and Conductor of Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.

Carolin Widmann received her first violin lessons at the age of 6. She studied with Igor Ozim (Musikhochschule Köln), Michèle Auclair (New England Conservatory, Boston), and David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London). |

Ms. Widmann is recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including the Cultural Price of the City of Munich, prizes at the Int. Georg Kulenkampff Violin Competition (Cologne, 1999), the Int. Jeunesses Musical Competition (Belgrade, 2001) and the 'Prix du President' at the Int. Yehudi Menuhin Competition for Young Violinists (Boulogne-sur-Mer, 1998). She received the Belmont prize 2004 of the Forberg-Schneider foundation, honoring her engagement for the 'music of our time' www.stiftung.forberg-schneider.de
Miss Widmann is a regular guest at festivals like the Banff Festival (Canada), the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove (England) and performed at the Lucerne and Salzburg Festivals, Berlin Festwochen, the Schleswig-Holstein and Musica festival Strasbourg (France), the Heidelberg Spring, Las Vegas, Moritzburg, Sangat Festival (Bombay, India), and the Witten Festival for New Chamber Music. As a soloist, Carolin Widmann appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, London Sinfonietta, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata St. Petersburg, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Ensemble, under conductors such as Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Michael Schønwandt, Peter Eötvös, Kazushi Ono, Jonathan Nott, Stefan Asbury and Christoph Poppen.
Ms. Widmann is currently recording a three-CD-set for the telos label which places the Ysaÿe solo sonatas alongside contemporary music for solo violin. |
