Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is under the patronage of the Royal Thai Government, and College of Music , Mahidol University . Its mission is to perform and to entertain the mass public with the intention to educate music as an art form by developing outreach programs.
One of Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra’s primary goals is to gather the highest caliber musicians in Thailand and to nurture the orchestra and strive for national and international status. Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra is further dedicated to promote the arts, music and culture of Thailand . The TPO performs and embraces every form of symphonic orchestral music including ethnic and non-western music.

Gudni A. Emilsson, Chief Conductor
Emilsson has won numerous national and international prizes including 1 st Prize in Biel / Bienne Switzerland 1992, 2 nd Prize by “Masterplayers” - Competition Lugano 1994.
In this year he received the special Award from the Foundation "LIND" in Iceland . At the same time he was awarded by the Richard Wagner Foundation Bayreuth and the Herbert von Karajan Foundation Salzburg . The Masaryk University of Prague awarded him the “Artist Prize” 2002.
He gave guest performances all over Europe with great acclaim, with Orchestras such as Stuttgart Philharmonic, Gottinger Symphony Orchestra, Nurnberg Symphony Orchestra, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Prague, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Bankja Chamber Orchestra of Sofia, Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra Bulgaria , State Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Arctic Chamber Orchestra USA , Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Prague and North West Germany Philharmonic.
Emilsson has further performed in several important musical centres and festivals such as Gewandhaus Leipzig , Luxembourg and Prague Spring Festival. He gives Master Classes for Conductors in Germany , Greece and Switzerland . |
JULIA GALIC, Violin
The soloist Julia Galic was born in Tuebingen , Germany , and she made her debut 13 years old, following many engagements as a soloist. She studied with Professor Franz Dierick, George Baynov and Federico Agostini, furthered her education with Professor Ingolf Turban at the University of Music Stuttgart and later on absolved the Master class as well with Professor Turban.

Julia Galic has performed with many prestigious orchestras such as Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Camerata Bohemica Prague, Moscow Chamber Orchestra Kremlin and the Wurttemberg Philharmonic.
She is well known as a chamber player and founded the "Young String Quartet - Stuttgart “ in 1994, which had many concerts with unusual programs at home and abroad. They won the first prize of the "Jeunesse musicales“ 1996 and therefore they worked together with famous ensembles such as Vermeer-, Melos- and La Salle Quartet.
Recordings of Julia Galic were produced by German Radio. Since 2001 Julia Galic is also concert-master of the Tuebingen Chamber Orchestra and is teaching at the Tuebingen Music School . |
Prateep Suphanrojn, Chief Conductor
Lt. Prateep Suphanrojn BA LRSM was born in Suphanburi , Thailand . In 1988, he joined in the Royal Thai Army School of Music as the Oboist and the Tubaist. Then 1966, he was awarded a scholarship to study the Bandmaster Course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall and Kingston University . He received the Bandmastership from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (LRSM) in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts from the Kingston University in 1998. In the final year competition, he won prizes for arrangement, composition and conducting. He also was the Best All – Round and Best Oversea Student Bandmaster in 1998.
At present, he works in the Royal Thai Army Band in the Bandmaster Position and also as an officer of the Education Department and working his master degree program on composition at the College of Music , Mahidol University . He has also been the resident conductor of Dr. Sax Chamber Orchestra since June 2002.
