The “Thailand: French Documentary resources” is a rich book (580 pages) which proposes an inventory of all the documents concerning Thailand found out since the reign of the king Louis the 14th in France (15th Century) until today.
Totally, it concerns 4 000 titles, divided in different categories (geography, history, religion, linguistic, education, etc.) enriched, localised, and introduced by a research on, by his author accompanied of specialists.
His author Laurent Hennequin, lecturer at the Silpakorn University , will be present to explain the main historic moments which made the interesting relationships existing between Thailand and France for centuries.
The Institute
Based in Bangkok , the Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC) is a member of the network of research centres of the French Foreign Ministry. IRASEC is calling on specialists from all academic fields to study the important social, political, economical and environmental developments that affect, together or separately, the eleven countries of the region ( Brunei , Burma , Cambodia , Indonesia , Lao , Malaysia , the Philippines , Singapore , Thailand , Timor Leste and Vietnam ).
