มนตรี เติมสมบัติ ศิลปินชาวไทย นำเสนอผลงานเกี่ยวกับการถือปฏิบัติและการ ถ่ายทอดความรู้ทางพุทธศาสนา เขาเผยแรงขับและความขัดแย้งตามธรรมชาติที่ อยู่ลึกๆของตนผ่านชุดภาพถ่ายตัวศิลปินเองที่จัดแสดงในหลากรูปแบบ ผลงานของ เขาตลอดมาล้วนได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากพุทธศาสนา การพิจารณาจากรูปภาพแสดงให้เห็นว่า สำหรับเขาแล้วการลบข้อจำกัดระหว่างการยึดมั่นกับการถอยห่าง และความลุ่มหลงกับการปล่อยวาง มีความจำเป็นอย่างยิ่งในชีวิต

มนตรี เติมสมบัติ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีจากคณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในปี พ.ศ. 2542 เขาได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศในการประกวด นักออกแบบเสื้อผ้ารุ่นใหม่ ในงานแฟชั่นนานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ประจำปี พ.ศ. 2542 และในปี พ.ศ. 2543 ได้รับทุนจากโครงการสนับสนุนของมูลนิธิญี่ปุ่นเป็นเวลา 6 เดือน ส่วนหนึ่งในบรรดานิทรรศการแสดงผลงานของเขา ได้แก่ Fake me งาน ศิลปะเชิงจัดวางและวิดีทัศน์ที่ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมญี่ปุ่นกรุงเทพฯ ในปี พ.ศ. 2543 และ New Fashion Order : Dissolution ที่มหาวิทยาลัย RMIT นครเมลเบิร์น ในปี พ.ศ. 2548

ในปี พ.ศ. 2549 เขาเปิดการแสดงผลงานชื่อ Inhale-Exhale โดยเป็นงานศิลปะ แนวจัดวางและวิดีทัศน์ที่พิพิธภัณฑ์คิอัสมา นครเฮลซิงกิ

The Thai artist Montri Toemsombat deals with the themes of practice and transmission of buddhist knowledge. Through a series of pictural photographs showing the artist himself in diverse possible views of himself, he unveils his aspirations and the contradictions of his inner life. In the wake of his previous pieces of work inspired by buddhism, the pictures of this introspection illustrate the artist’s vital necessity to blur the limits between adherence and distance, addiction and detachment.

Montri Toemsombat completed his studies at the Fine and Applied Arts Faculty, Chulalongkorn University in 1997.
In 1999 he was awarded the Young Designer Award at Bangkok’s International Fashion Week and in 2000 the Fellowship Program of the Japan Foundation for a period of six months.
Among his personal exhibitions, Fake me, site-specific Inter-media Installation and Performance was exhibited at The Japan Foundation in Bangkok in 2002 or New Fashion Order: Dissolution, presented at the RMIT University of Melbourne in 2005.

In 2006, he presented the exhibition Inhale-Exhale, site-specific Inter-media Installation and Performance at the Kiasma Museum in Helsinki.
