Press Conference for the Official Organize of the Miss Universe 2005 in Thailand
Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Suwat Lipatapanlop, the Tourism Authority of Thailand in conjunction with DTC Group, including Bangkok Television and Radio Co., Ltd. (Channel 7), BBTV Productions Co., Ltd. and Matching Studio (Public) Co., Ltd., have announced to sign a contract with Miss Universe Inc as an official host to organize the Miss Universe Pageant Thailand 2005 in Thailand on 31 st May, 2005. Its organizing committee are as follow :
• Mrs. Surang Prempree, Managing Director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd. (Channel 7)
• Mrs. Charlotte Donavanik, Chairman of BBTV Productions Co., Ltd.
• Mr. Somchai Cheewasutthanon, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Matching Studio (Public) Co., Ltd.
The Miss Universe team has a policy to organize activities useful to society, and to help rejuvenate tourism in Thailand, especially in those southern provinces after the tsunami disaster. The organizing committee believes that this year' Miss Universe Pageant will help create more confidence among tourists worldwide to return to Thailand.
Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Suwat Lipatapanlop has said, “As a Deputy Prime Minister and a representative of Thai people, I feel it is a great honor that Miss Universe Inc has chosen Thailand to host the Miss Universe Pageant Thailand 2005 here. After the tsunami incident, Thai people of all sectors have joined forces to renovate the country and make foreigners confident in Thai tourism. An organization of the Miss Universe Pageant Thailand 2005 is a good opportunity to promote the beauty of Thailand to more than billion people worldwide. The audience around the world will watch the live coverage of the contest and learn that Thailand has a great potential to organize a world-class event like the Miss Universe Pageant.
Tourism and Sports Minister Mr. Sontaya Kunplome, has revealed “Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will take an opportunity in organizing the Miss Universe Pageant to promote Thailand. Its image to be presented and televised via various television stations will be publicized worldwide to reiterate how beautiful tourist places in Thailand are. This is to reassure and to recreate more confidence among foreign tourists.
Ms. Paula M. Shugart, President of Miss Universe, US has said “there will be a live coverage of the pageant by NBC and Telemundo. Over billion people around the world will watch the program. Miss Universe is a joint investment between Donald J. Trump and NBC. According to objectives of Miss Universe Inc, it has a commitment that a host country will create a good impact on its tourism with participants from 88 nations worldwide.”
Mrs. Surang Prempree, Managing Director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd. has noted “Channel 7 itself has had a good relation with Miss Universe for over 20 years. Having won a right to hold the Miss Thailand Universe to send a representative to the pageant is Thailand's proudness in joining such a world-class event. It is also a means to promote Thailand to people worldwide.
Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd, BBTV Productions Co., Ltd. and Matching Studio (Public) Co., Ltd. are highly honored to be selected to handle the event and are confident that we have a supporting capacity for the pageant organization.
The Miss Universe Pageant has received strong supports from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Miss Universe Organizing Committee because the pageant is seen as a beauty Olympic and an instrument to promote tourism in Thailand very well. This is because people all over the world will understand why Thailand is ready to welcome foreign tourists. Its organizing committee strongly believe that only the Miss Universe Pageant event will be widely promoted to over billions audience in 171 nations around the world.
