MTV Networks Asia has
partnered with UNICEF to make them the major recipient of
funds collected from the event. Over one third of those affected
were children and young people, who are also amongst the most
vulnerable groups in the tsunami. UNICEF -- which has a strong
on the ground presence in the regions affected -- is especially
well positioned to provide urgent and sustainable help to
those who need it most.
Specific details about
MTV Asia Aid, the artists that will perform at the event,
the fund raising mechanisms and corporate partnerships in
support of the event will be announced shortly.
There will still be MTV
Asia Awards 2005 programming on MTV Asia channels, announcing
the categories and winners. Details of the program broadcast
times will continue to be promoted on-air and online across
the region.

Simple
Plan :
The road to success has
been long and arduous for the Canadian disciples. As their
journey continues, they will have to side-step the landmines
and leap over snake-filled pits. One wrong step could prove
deadly fatal, as they struggle for the ultimate prize.
Formed in 1995 when drummer
Chuck Comeau hooked up with high school friends and guitarists
Jeff Stinco and Sebastien Lefebvre, they added singer and
old band buddy Pierre Bouvier and another former band member,
bassist David Desrosiers, to the mix, and Simple Plan was
born.
Thanks to them, pop-punk
has never sounded this good. After they gave us the energetically-catchy
"Addicted" and "Perfect" from 2002's No
Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls, which sold more than 1.7
million copies. Now, the five boys from Montreal are back
with the wistful "Welcome To My Life" from their
second album Still Not Getting Any....
The boys insist they
have evolved over these few short years. "We want to
take this band from where we are now to so much higher, and
we're going to work our asses off and slay every show and
do every interview and just get there. This is our shot,"
says drummer Comeau.
