The Thailand Open 2006 returns to Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from September 24 to October 1, with the most wide open playing field ever.
Already confirmed to compete for the USD550,000 prize money are: World #4 Ivan Ljubicic, World #6 James Blake, two-time Grand Slam champions Lleyton Hewitt and Marat Safin, Argentina’s Guillemo Coria, British sensation Andy Murray and Asia’s #1 and hometown hero Paradorn Srichaphan. Further tennis stars will be announced in the coming weeks adding up to the strongest field ever to compete in the tournament.
”This is the most open field we have ever had,” said Brian L. Marcar, BEC Tero Entertainment Managing Director. “There are so many players who could win it this year and we will be announcing some more big names in the next few weeks.”
After three enormously successful years, Thai tennis fans are assured more magnificent tennis at the ATP Thailand Open 2006. With the depth of this year’s field, spectators can expect to see big-name match ups from the very first session of play. James Blake, currently the hottest American player on the tour and Argentinian star Guillermo Coria will be making their first appearances in Bangkok . Both are charismatic players who play with plenty of passion and are sure to be popular with local fans.
With a line up featuring many of the biggest names in tennis, the title of Thailand Open champion 2006 is up for grabs.
